“Stowaway” stashes a lot to think about in a deceptively straightforward tale of outer space survival.
The second feature from the “Arctic” team of writer-director Joe Penna and writer-editor Ryan Morrison, the film shows they really have a knack for making viewers feel the stress their characters are going through, both mental and physical. “Stowaway,” coming to Netflix on Thursday, April 22, also adds a strong strain of moral conflict to that combination. This is “real” science fiction, all appallingly possible in a near-future spacecraft that looks as accurate as one could imagine (Penna and Morrison consulted with some 20 engineers, astronauts, researchers and the like before building their set).
