MaineHealth has received a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for a statewide overdose and infection prevention program focused on harm.
Kari Morissette, executive director of the Church of Safe Injection, died last month at 33. She was a powerhouse advocate for those who use drugs and helping others in need gave her purpose.
In announcing Morissette's passing, peers described her as "a fierce advocate and friend to people who use drugs, fighting for their health, rights and dignity."
