Digital Spy recently caught up with Zoe Bertram, who plays Fay, to hear her thoughts on leaving the Aussie soap.
Can you tell us how this final story for Fay came about? Fay has had Huntington s for a while and unfortunately there is no cure at this stage. I really hope one day there will be. So we knew that it was going to come to an end at some stage or another.
It wasn t a fun storyline, but we ve had a lot of praise and thank-you messages from people who have experience of Huntington s disease in real life. We ve put a lot of energy into the storyline, so it was always going to happen and we knew that deep down. I haven t watched the episode and I won t be watching it, because it s too hard. I know it s fake, I know it s not real, but when you re bringing on tears, you have to have a certain amount of emotion going through your body to get to that point. Zoe s realistic acting style, paired with a storyline about a mother passing away, means that it s a beautiful and devastating storyline. But it was not fun to film at all.

I was told this would be the last time, so it was disappointing because I ve loved my time there, but it was not a surprise.
