When 57-year-old Lufina Nyathi of Kayuni Nyathi village in the area of Inkosi Kampingo Sibande in Mzimba heard about the death of her daughter-in-Law in South Africa in 2017 she was utterly devastated.
Her daughter-in-law died just after giving birth to a baby girl due to complications during labor.
Three weeks later the baby girl who was named Loness was brought back home to be under the care of Nyathi. I was devastated, I didn t know how I would be able to cope with taking care of the baby, some of my friends were laughing at me saying the baby will not survive she will die, recalls Nyathi while sitting on a lead mat near her house.
MZUNI Graduands Demand Details of Graduation Ceremony
Mzuzu University 2019 graduands have given until 12 February the university management to release details of their graduation ceremony scheduled for February 26, saying they are forced to act because management is playing games.
Secretary of the graduands Andrew Maliro has today Tuesday said management has been postponing their graduation ceremony since finishing studies in 2019 and giving a string of excuses which include the spread of Coronavirus and installation of President Lazarus Chakwera as Chancellor of the institution.
Mzuzu University management is yet to comment on the matter, which the graduands presented during a press briefing in Lilongwe.
Malawian Returnees From SA Delayed in Zim
Immigration authorities at Mwanza border say the returnees were expected in the country yesterday.
Spokesperson for the border post, Inspector Pasqually Zulu, has told our reporter Happy Njalammano that the delay was due to some logistical challenges.

MHRC Calls For PPEs For All
The Malawi Human Rights Commission MHRC has called on the government to consider providing personal protective equipment to all Malawians regardless of age.
MHRC Executive Secretary Habiba Osman told Zodiak yesterday that much as the human rights body appreciates the new preventive guidelines, government should make sure that the rights to education and life should be safeguarded at all times in the midst of the global pandemic. Every person must have access to PPEs regardless of age, status, sex, and everything else, Osman said.
