Tobago calypsonian Alex Gift (Tobago Chalkie) will spend another night behind bars, while his wife Verlene Gift has been granted bail.
The two appeared virtually before the Scarborough Magistrates Court on Monday charged with four counts of inflicting grievous bodily harm on their landlady, Zobah Samuel, and assault by beating.
They were not called upon to plead.
The court heard that the 57-year-old Gift of Bon Accord has a previous matter of a similar nature. He was denied bail and his matter was adjourned to May 17.
