Salih Mustafa was convicted of murder, torture and arbitrary detention in a prison run by Kosovo's Albanian independence guerrilla group, the KLA, which has been in power in Pristina since the 1998-1999 war of independence against Serbia. This is the first verdict for war crimes by the Specialist Chambers for Kosovo, based in The Hague, Netherlands, and established in 2015. Former commander Mustafa was sentenced to 26 years in prison.
