Wang Minghui, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, was sentenced in the first instance for accepting bribes and abusing power. The Intermediate People's Court of Foshan City, Guangdong Province publicly sentenced him on January 31, 2024. It was decided to execute the sentence of 16 years in prison and was fined RMB 5 million. His illicit proceeds from bribery and the proceeds of corruption were seized, detained and frozen.
