In Brunei Darussalam, the phrase
Negara Zikir (Zikir Nation) has been used widely since it was first mentioned in 1428 Hijrah in correspondence to 2007.
The country is renowned for its slogan of Zikir Nation, which features how Brunei Darussalam can be seen, evaluated and how the Sultanate is being managed and governed.
This was shared by the State Mufti of Brunei Darussalam Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned during his premier paper deliberation at the recent Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) Zikir Nation Education Symposium organised by the Religious Teachers University College Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).

Brunei Darussalam implements general and religious education into its formal education, both mandated by law in the Compulsory Education Order 2007 and the Compulsory Religious Education Order 2012, which sees the guaranteed provision of education to the people.

Youth are a valuable asset, as well as the backbone and strength for the nation’s future, who need to be nurtured, educated and guided, said Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar.
“This will enable the nation to produce youth who are able to carry the roles and responsibilities of religious preaching in a complete and correct manner,” he said at the launching of the Da’wah Academy 3.0 yesterday.
He described the youthful participants in the programme as “ready to face the current challenges, while possessing physical and mental endurance and strength – they come from a productive generation who are competitive, visionary, dynamic and spirited to continue in their endeavours to the end”.
