Seven month investigation into a deadly officerinvolved shooting. An officer killed kawaza beaty after he pointed a sawed off shotgun at police. 10 on your sides jason marks talked with beatys family who were disappointed at the investigation. Beatys family met with the commonwealths attorney this morning and he told them the shooting was justifed. They came out of that meeting very emotional as you can imagine. This is video of the family just after the meeting. They were sad yet angry at the same time. They felt as if their son was taken for no readon. The shooting happened last july 4th. Police got a call about a man in the east end of the city with a gun. Were told a detective along with a k9 officer and a sergeant spotted Kawanza Beaty walking down a street. Police say they tried talking with him but he started running. During the chase officers say they could see the gun and it fired three times and hit beaty in the head. This week they were encouraged by what was happening with the Six Wilson High School students. They were encouraged by the fact a judge had gone and said they should be banned from the metrorail system. Keep in mind through all of this they still were able to ride the bus system but what you saw today is metro clearly understood there was a pattern with some of the students who were still riding the train. They were at the tenleytown station. They were there when they got off the train this morning waiting for them as they were going to walk to school, and they picked those kids up. What this tells you about everything thats been going on in the metro system lately, specifically when it comes to teens, is that metro really is drawing a line in the sand here. If a judge says youre not supposed to be on the rails, well, then metro is probably going to know where you are going to be getting on and off the train. Professor Clive Landis to Serve as Next Principal at The UWI Cave Hill Campus

PROFESSOR Clive Landis will be the next Principal of The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in Barbados. Professor Landis’ appointment was confirmed at The UWI’s annual business meeting of its University Council on April 30. The appointment was approved by the University Council, following a recommendation from Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles.
Professor Clive Landis appointed Campus Principal Designate, The UWI, Cave Hill.
Professor Landis, who joined The UWI in 2004, has served as Deputy Principal of the Campus from 2015-2019; as the University Pro Vice-Chancellor for Undergraduate Studies from 2019-2021 and Chair of the UWI Zika Task Force in 2016. He is also currently Chair of the UWI COVID-19 Task Force, having assumed the role since February 2020. He will succeed retiring Principal, Professor the Most Honourable V.
