BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhua) The country s top golfers - male and female - are in the Chinese capital this week as the second edition of the Sina Cup tees off Wednesday at Beijing Shadow Creek Golf Club. The two-day Ryder Cup-style event provides a good showcase of the country s golf talent as the two teams - Red and Blue - feature six women pros paired with six male amateurs and six male pros paired with six female amateurs. The format includes four fourballs on Wednesday morning, followed by four foursomes in the afternoon. Twelve singles matches tee off on Thursday.

History will be made at the Volvo China Open in Shenzhen this week when Zhang Jienalin becomes the first female player to ever compete in the tournament.
Henan-born Zhang, who turned pro in 2015, surprised herself by claiming her maiden title at the Hangzhou International Championship in October, not least because it was a co-sanctioned event with the men s China Tour.

GOLF: Six Thais, led by sisters Moriya and Ariya Jutanugarn, will take part in the US Women’s Open, which tees off in Houston today (Dec 10).

The other four are Jasmine (Thidapa) Suwannapura, Pornanong Phatlum, Pajaree Anannarukarn and Patty (Paphangkorn) Tavatanakit.
Ariya, who won the 2018 US Women’s Open, will be seeking her third major crown and 11
th LPGA Tour win this week.
The former world No.1 has had an unconvincing season with her best finish being sixth place at the Drive On Championship in October.
