ESSEX, CT Essex Meadows Powers on Three-Part Solar System
According to a press release from Verogy Solar (a Hartford-based solar developer dedicated to delivering industry-leading renewable energy solutions); Essex Meadows has energized their newly-constructed three-part solar energy project. The 587 kW of energy produced by the solar system is the equivalent of powering 57 average homes annually. The project is expected to produce nearly 700,000 kWh of clean energy every year which equals the avoidance of 494 metric tons of carbon dioxide or the same amount of carbon that would be sequestered by 646 acres of forest in one year.

NAUGATUCK A solar panel array on the roof of City Hill Middle School is expected to be up and running in the fall.
The Board of Education on Feb. 11 awarded a contract to WC McBride Electrical for $550,416 to install the solar panels. The Bridgeport-based company submitted the lowest of five bids for the work.
Adam Burkitt, managing partner with Advanced Energy Efficiencies, said 723 panels will be installed on the roof. The work is slated to start May 15. He said construction is expected to finish by August. Officials plan to have the solar panels operational by the end of September, he said.
