welcome back to morning joe. time for a quick look at some of today s top stories. breaking news this morning in utah. firing squad executed convict killer ronnie lee gardner. the 49-year-old was shot to death by a team of five anonymous marksmen after being strapped to a chair and having a target pinned to his chest. gardner was sentenced to death killing a lawyer in failed courthouse escape. utah had adopted lethal injection as the execution in 2004 but gardner was allowed to choose the firing squad because he was sentenced back before the change. the first death penalty that bring it back sort of en vogue after the supreme court said he could do it was a firing squad. gary gilmore, i think, was in
