points of contact, stuff like that. so the response is overwhelming. we ve been out there, helping everyone else. they ve all come to our aid. we ve had a tremendous response there. like i said there s just people with semi trucks and gas, fuel, everything, ready to come in. it s all about having passable roads. before we go, one bit of good news, at least so far, seems to be that the levees in and around new orleans seemed to have held. that all that work and money put into them post-katrina may have made a difference here. is that what you re seeing? yes, sir, it seems to be that way. of course, some of the levees topped because of the amount of water. we did have one levee failure. not sure if that was one that was not sure it was one that had been repaired. maybe needs to, in one of those areas. but that s all the information on our zello channel that was back and forth being confirmed. we heard there were 22 ought of stuff, lot of people

compared to other storms to hugo, for example. tell me what you are seeing on the ground. what i m seeing on the ground, at this point, is like what we have started with groups. everyone coming together. we put out a call on lcn disaster response team, zello channel and inundated with people locally as well as our state coming in. the response, the volunteer level, the response level for the volunteers is just overwhelming. it s everyone coming together after the past experience, i think everyone learned we have to help each other and prepare together. the governor said earlier, don t bet your life in riding out a monster. you have seen people try to do that, clyde. what is your message to people who think i can hunker down, i don t want to leave my home unattended for four or five days? we started a program the last
fire department and that s where our boats are inbound. me and adam, one of our other boat captains are out riding. just getting the lay of everything. scoping out so we can immediately deploy. so you are just beginning to get out. inundated with calls. do you have a sense of how many calls or how many people are trapped? we had, i would say, over 500 calls on our zello channel and 888 number. we were two hours away and winds are too high for us to pull in the air boat. we are staging them in and bringing in the low shallow water boats first and behind that is the air boats to do quicker missions and get more people. right now, we are getting the efforts started as soon as the boats arrive. in the meantime, we are setting up points. if you can make that point once again. i think it is so important as the winds are picking up where i am in wilmington.
