KALAMAZOO, MI – Zeigler Auto Group paid $85,111 in back pay to 214 employees for failing to make sure they earned minimum wage and were paid for overtime.
Commission-based sales consultants at 13 of the dealership group’s 30 locations in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois did not always make minimum wage, the U.S. Department of Labor said in a news release. A total of $85,111 for minimum wage and overtime was repaid to 214 employees, the release said.
The employees were paid on commission. But if they did not make enough commission to reach minimum wage, Zeigler was required to make up the difference, the release said.
