SANTA ROSA BEACH The local app developer who recently made news with the rollout of the Trumpr app, a social media platform aimed at fans of former president Donald Trump, is set to go live with another app aimed at tourists visiting South Walton County s popular beaches.
The Discover South Walton app currently is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play, but won t be fully functional until March 1, as tourist season gears up, according to Charles Galloway, CEO of Fire Vibe Inc.
“This is the app that the TDC (Walton County s Tourist Development Council) should have built years ago, Galloway said. We’re just launching it privately.”
SANTA ROSA BEACH Walton County will miss what had been an informal goal of having a digital app in place by the March start of this year s tourist season to handle vending of beach chairs, umbrellas and other amenities by the private companies handling that business.
Development of the app has been pushed by newly elected Commissioner Mike Barker, and the issue recently made its way onto a list of priorities connected to proposed changes in the county s beach activities ordinance. The county reviews the beach activities ordinance at the end of every tourist season, including public workshops, to develop possible modifications.
