West Ottawa High School added to outbreak report for third time
PARK TWP. For the third time this school year, West Ottawa High School has been added to Michigan’s School-Related Outbreak Report.
The Monday, March 15, update included 58 new COVID-19 outbreaks in Michigan schools. West Ottawa High School had an outbreak of two related cases the minimum to be considered an outbreak and was the only Ottawa County school added.
It’s the third time this year WOHS has had an outbreak after appearing in the Nov. 9 and Jan. 25 updates as well.
Monday marks the ninth time in 11 weeks since school resumed Jan. 4 that an area school has been included in the outbreak report. Zeeland’s New Groningen Elementary was added with four linked cases last week, which grew to eight this week according to the state report.
ZEELAND A local elementary school was added to the state’s School-Related Outbreak Reporting for the second time this year in an update Monday.
In the state’s March 8 update to the report, Zeeland’s New Groningen Elementary was added to the report with four cases. The cases include both students and staff, according to the state. New Groningen was previously added to the report Feb. 1 and had since been removed.
The building is the first local school added to the report since Feb. 22. Prior to that, from Jan. 4 to Feb. 22, local schools were added to the report in seven consecutive weeks.
