Montague and Mexico double winners at IMMAF Amateur MMA Awards Friday, 11 December 2020
New Zealand s Michelle Montague was a big winner at the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Amateur MMA Awards.
Montague won two honours as the black-tie event was held virtually in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Montague, the women’s lightweight world champion in 2019, won Best Female Athlete and Best Performance awards this year.
The Best Performance honour was a nod to her victory over Finn Jenni Kivioja in the 2020 Oceania Open final, via arm-bar submission.
Kazakhstan s Bagdat Zhubanysh, another world champion in 2019, was name Best Male Athlete.
