Newton boys sink Grinnell with late free throws

(Troy Hyde) GRINNELL — Sophomore Jake Ingle told a teammate in the huddle during a timeout in the closing seconds of Newton’s boys’ basketball game against Grinnell that he wanted the ball is his hands in crunch time. Ingle played in 14 games as a freshman last year and scored 27 points. On Tuesday, in the Cardinals’ season opener against the Tigers, Ingle hit the two biggest free throws of his prep career and the pair of freebies helped send Newton to a 58-55 road win during Little Hawkeye Conference action.
