All of the minutes, responsibility and attention he’s getting from opponents might finally be wearing on the Wolf Pack’s 6-foot-2 leader. Sherfield was solid against UNLV but he continued to struggle with his shot, making just 12-of-26. He’s also now just 6-of-27 (22 percent) on threes over his last five games after starting the season 27-of-64 (42 percent) Sherfield also went to the free throw line just six times in the two UNLV games combined. He scored 15 points on Sunday with an eye-opening 11 assists in 33 minutes and then went 6-of-15 from the floor on Tuesday, scoring 18 points with four assists in 39 minutes. After a subpar shooting series versus Wyoming last weekend, the Nevada Wolf Pack lit the nets on fire in its first game since on Sunday evening.
The Pack’s shot 56.4 percent including a remarkable 14-of-24 (58.3 percent) from beyond the arc cruising to a 89-60 victory over the UNLV Rebels at Lawlor Events Center, extending its win streak to a program-best seven straight over its intrastate rival. Both shooting marks, in addition to their 14 made 3-pointers were all season highs.
Nevada’s 29-point victory was its largest on the season and its most since it beat Air Force by 34 (88-54) on Feb. 4, 2020. This is UNLV’s largest defeat since it lost 83-50 against BYU on Dec. 7, 2019.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to continue Mountain West play on Thursday, Dec. 31 against Nevada in Lubbock, Texas at Rip Griffin Center. The game will be considered a home game for UNM and will tip off at 7 p.m. MT / 8 p.m. CT.
The Lobos (3-2, 0-2 MW) enter Thursday’s game coming off of a sweep by Boise State in their first conference series of the season. Nevada is 6-3 overall, 1-1 in the Mountain West and enters coming off of a two-point loss to Air Force. Wolf Pack wins on the season include a 17-point win over Air Force in game one of their series, as well as non-conference victories over Nebraska (69-66), Pacific (70-58), North Dakota State (62-48) and San Diego (79-72).
Walker scores 27 to lift Air Force past Nevada 68-66

RENO, Nev. (AP) A.J. Walker had a career-high 27 points and made two free throws with 14 seconds left as Air Force narrowly beat Nevada 68-66 on Sunday.
It was the first-ever win for Air Force at Reno.
Chris Joyce scored five straight points for Air Force on a 3-pointer to take the lead and then two free throws to build a 61-57 edge at 1:34 the Wolf Pack could not overcome.
Joyce finished with 18 points for Air Force (3-3, 1-1 Mountain West Conference). Keaton Van Soelen added six points and six assists.
