US embassy security guard staged ‘fake bomb’ drama for reward: CTTC unit

The recovery of a bag with fake IED from the annex building of US embassy in Dhaka on December 2 made headlines.
Two youths supposedly threw a black bag at a security guard of the embassy following an altercation and ran away. Later, the bomb disposal unit of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit found a match box, a cup wrapped with black tape, some wire and a knife inside the bag.
Law enforcers today said that the whole episode was staged by embassy security guard Zakir Hossain Mollah, who apparently did it for reward.
