Cops arrest man in Johor with over RM140,000 worth of illegal cigs, liquor

JOHOR BARU: Police here have arrested a man for allegedly being involved in the smuggling of cigarettes and liquor for the domestic market. Southern Region Two Marine Police chief ACP Muhd Zailani Abdullah said the 30-year-old suspect was detained while loading the goods into the boot of a car on Thursday (July 29). He said the suspect was detained at the back lane of Jalan Dataran 3/1, Taman Kempas near here at around 5.30pm. “Following the arrest, the man led us to a place where the contraband items were stored in a room,’’ said ACP Muhd Zailani on Friday (July 30). He said that police personnel discovered 183,800 sticks of illicit cigarettes and eight cartons of liquor of different brands kept in the place with a combined value of RM141,768, including duties and taxes.

Marine police seize RM80,000 worth of fire crackers in Johor | Malaysia

Sunday, 24 Jan 2021 03:33 PM MYT JOHOR BARU, Jan 24  The Region Two Marine Police Force (PPM) seized various types of firecrackers, estimated to be worth RM80,000, in a raid, codenamed “Ops Benteng-Covid Landai” at a house in Taman Skudai Indah 2, here, yesterday. Its commander ACP Muhd Zailani Abdullah said a 51-year-old man, who is the house owner, was arrested in the raid which was conducted at about 4.30pm. He said the raid was conducted following a tip-off and the fire crackers were believed to be distributed to the markets for the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration. The seizure involved 43 boxes containing various types of firecrackers in a lorry that was parked in front of the house, and 17 more boxes of firecrackers which were found in the garage of the house, he said in a statement today.
