PUTRAJAYA (Dec 28): The Federal Court here today reserved its decision on the final attempt by a ‘Datuk’ and two policemen for an immediate release from detention under the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) 1959 in connection with an illegal online gambling syndicate.
A five-member panel chaired by Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat deferred the judgment on the appeal by businessman Zaidi Kanapiah or better known as “Datuk Addy Kana”, Corporal Muhamad Amin Nur Rashid Mohamed Puad and Corporal Mohd Hairy Mohammad, all aged between 34 and 39, after hearing submissions from both parties.
“We will CAV (curia advisari vult) the decision. We adjourn this case,” said Justice Tengku Maimun who presided the appeal with Federal Court Justices Datuk Vernon Ong Lam Kiat, Datuk Zaleha Yusof, Datuk Seri Hasnah Mohammed Hashim and Datuk Rhodzariah Bujang.

SHAH ALAM: A Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and an inspector with RM1 million are among 29 police personnel being investigated for allegedly colluding with Macau scam and online gambling syndicates main suspects Zaidi Kanapiah and Goh Leong Yeong.
Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) Director Datuk Zamri Yahya said the investigation was on those with extraordinary asset values compared to their positions and salaries, travel history without permission and several other aspects.
“A total 29 Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) personnel including a DCP and an Inspector with RM1 million in savings are being investigated.
