In the third season of ’Hacks’ now streaming on Max as comedian Deborah Vance’s (Jean Smart) career soars to new heights, the series explores the cost of her explosive success not just on those closest to her, but also on her large queer fanbase.
At the intersection of that Venn Diagram is Deborah’s assistant Damien (Mark Indelicato) and her company’s COO Marcus (Carl Clemons-Hopkins), the latter of whom feels particularly worried he’s being left in the dust as she moves on to bigger and better things.
Which brings up some big questions: What do these divas and icons we worship “owe” their gay fans? And what do we want from them anyway? What do we want for them?
In ’Hacks’’ best season yet, that complex relationship comes into play in fascinating ways, which inspired us to talk with Indelicato & Clemons-Hopkins about their favorite divas: Who’s their # 1? What are the stars’ earliest memories of these icons, and how have they shaped our worlds?

It’s been an incredible trip, but now ’Fellow Travelers’ has reached its final destination.
In adapting Thomas Mallon’s 2017 novel of the same name, the acclaimed Showtime drama expanded the narrative’s scope, checking in on the central romance between Hawk Fuller (Matt Bomer) and Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey) at different moments in history, while also highlighting alternate perspectives on the gay experience through the decades.
The latter point was achieved through the emotional love story of writer-turned-teacher Marcus Hooks and drag artist-turned-social worker Frankie Hines, played beautifully by Broadway veterans Jelani Alladin and Noah J. Ricketts, respectively.
Running parallel to Hawk and Tim’s years-long affair, Marcus and Frankie’s journey together had its fair share of ups and downs, too, while providing an honest look at what’s it’s meant to be both Black and queer in America.

If you like your holiday movies more “naughty” than “nice,” then Christmas comes early with the arrival of eerie cult horror ’The Sacrifice Game,’ from filmmaker Jenn Wexler.
And you must’ve been extra good this year, because the movie features a supporting role from everyone’s favorite hunky, gay Olympian-turned-actor, Gus Kenworthy consider that a holiday bonus!
In all seriousness, the role represents some new territory for Kenworthy, who’s previous roles have mostly all been comedic. But in ’The Sacrifice Game,’ he’s playing it straight. Literally.
Speaking with Queerty, the former athlete gets candid about channeling real-life fears into his “scream queen” performance, the surprising challenges of carving out a career in Hollywood, and his dream roles including a hypothetical rom-com with Richard Madden, who he’s been told he looks like multiple times (we’re holding out hope for our ’Boyfriend Twins’ pitch).

The original quartet Jessay Martin (70), Robert Reeves (80), Bill Lyons (79), and Mick Peterson (67) have been making videos together since 2018, sharing their hot takes and shaking their hot cakes, gaining a massive following of adoring fans on social media in the process.
