Coastal Carolina University held its annual Student Involvement and Leadership Awards (SILA) ceremony on Tuesday, April 20, at 7 p.m. at Wheelwright Auditorium. To ensure COVID-19 protocols were followed, only individuals who applied for an award or were a part of the ceremony could attend the in-person ceremony. The event was livestreamed for those who could not be physically present.
During this year’s ceremony, outstanding students, faculty, and staff, as well as groups, were recognized and received a plaque, certificate, or a coveted Chanticleer rooster trophy.

When the snow falls, plows are dispatched to help keep motorists moving.
Drive reader Dan said he is appreciative of plow drivers efforts, but he wondered if they have to follow traffic rules when clearing snow.
He was behind two snowplows while heading west on 85th Avenue in Brooklyn Park during a late December snowfall. When the plows one in each lane arrived at Zachary Lane, they stopped for a red light. But since there were no vehicles on Zachary Lane, the plow drivers proceeded through the intersection against a red light.
Monday
12:02 a.m. A caller from Townsend and West Main streets reported a vehicle being driven at high speed, running multiple stop signs. The driver was cited on unknown charges.
2:55 a.m. A caller from the 200 block of Colfax Avenue reported a theft.
7:23 a.m. A caller from the 300 block of Columbia Avenue reported the theft of a Honda dirt bike.
8:35 a.m. A caller from Packard Drive reported an attempted computer fraud.
3:52 p.m. A caller from a business in the 200 block of Sierra College Drive reported a man refusing to leave an employee break area and refusing to wear a mask. He was muttering “Control, Alt, Delete” and squatting in a chair. He agreed to leave and possibly had mental health issues.
