Bicyclist seriously injured in Marlborough crash
MARLBOROUGH A bicyclist suffered serious injuries Tuesday evening after being struck by a pickup truck while trying to cross the road near Mechanic and Lincoln streets, authorities said.
The 34-year-old man was flown to UMass-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester by a medical rescue helicopter after first being treated at a local hospital.
Neither Marlborough police nor the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office knew the man’s condition on Wednesday morning.
The man was trying to cross the street about 5:51 p.m., police spokesman Sgt. Zachary Attaway said Wednesday.
A GMC pickup truck driving northbound on Mechanic Street collided with the bicyclist. The pickup s driver stayed at the scene of the crash, Attaway said.

The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission voted to award Accreditation status to the Marlborough Police Department for another three-year period ending in January 2024. The Department first earned Accreditation in 2018 after meeting 257 mandatory standards as well as 85 optional standards. The Accreditation process is time consuming and an intensive analysis of the department’s policies and procedures which seeks to ensure that the department meets the standards considered to be best practices for the profession.
The Accreditation process consists of two major components: 1) The establishment of a body of professional standards and policies and 2) a voluntary assessment process by which agencies can be publicly recognized for meeting those standards considered best practices for the profession. MARLBORO A Marlboro man and two others robbed two Medway men of three pairs of high-end sneakers including a pair of Nike Air Force 1 Travis Scott kicks that carry a retail value of $2,400 last week in what appears to be retaliation to another shoe deal gone bad, authorities here said.
Lucca Drummond, 18, turned himself in to the Marlboro Police Department on Wednesday, police spokesman Sgt. Zachary Attaway said Friday.
On Jan. 21, the two victims agreed to meet someone they met on Snapchat at the Royal Crest Apartments off Hosmer Street in Marlboro to sell some rare sneakers.
Included in the deal were a pair of Nike Air Force 1 Travis Scott sneakers ($2,500), Air Jordan Space Jam sneakers ($340), and a pair of Adidas Yeezy Belugas ($370), the sergeant said.
