NEWARK A screwdriver attack in November left one man dead and his attacker headed to the state penitentiary to serve a sentence of 15 years to life.
Zacharie A. Nelson, 33, of Florida and living in Perry County at the time of the attack, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Licking County Common Pleas Court to the murder of John Mason, 50, during the early morning hours of Nov. 18, on North Cedar Street.
Licking County Common Pleas Court Judge Thomas Marcelain said the sentence is the only one available for the murder charge, and said the term is not subject to early judicial release. Nelson receives credit for the 257 days he s already served.
