Burr Ridge Mayor Running Unopposed

UpdatedTue, Dec 22, 2020 at 11:09 am CT Replies(11) Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso, who won the 2019 election with nearly two-thirds of the vote, is running unopposed in the April 6 election. (David Giuliani/Patch) BURR RIDGE, IL It s clear sailing for Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso in the April 6 election. He is the only candidate to submit petitions for the job. Monday was the last day to file paperwork for mayor and three trustee seats. All three trustees up for election Zach Mottl, Anita Mital and Guy Franzese have entered the race. Two other candidates, Russell Smith and Elena Galinski, also have filed. This means five people are vying for three seats.

Judicial hellholes burden business in Illinois

By Zach Mottl Cook, Madison and St. Clair counties just put Illinois on the map for being one of the worst “judicial hellholes” in the nation — again. This discouraging, yet unsurprising news comes from the American Tort Reform Foundation’s newly released 2020 Judicial Hellholes report, an annual report that spotlights the jurisdictions where documented histories of lawsuit abuse have earned them reputations as judicial hellholes, and where constituents are forced to suffer the far-reaching impact of an imbalanced court system. This year, Cook, Madison and St. Clair counties earned the No. 8 spot on the list of nine hellholes, down from No. 7 last year. While this can technically be viewed as progress, being labeled the nation’s eighth worst hellhole instead of the seventh is hardly what I would call an improvement to our reputation.

Burr Ridge Mayor, Rival Trustee Plan To Run Again

Reply Mayor Gary Grasso is seeking re-election, while a rival trustee, Zach Mottl, said he intends to file paperwork for his candidacy. (Shutterstock) BURR RIDGE, IL Burr Ridge Mayor Burr Grasso and his allies filed their candidacies Monday in the April 6 election. But two more candidates said they would turn in their petitions by next Monday. On the first day of filing, the village reported receiving petitions from Grasso for mayor and trustees Guy Franzese and Anita Mital, and political newcomer Russell Smith for Village Board. Three trustee seats are up for election. Asked Monday whether he would seek a second term, Trustee Zach Mottl said he planned to file his petitions by next Monday, which is the last day to do so. Mottl, whom the board has censured five times since late 2019, has repeatedly tangled with Grasso on a variety of issues. Grasso defeated Mottl in the April 2019 election.
