After dropping the first game to Miami and coming from behind in 11 innings to win the second game the Tar Heels were looking for a series win. The Tar Heels have yet to find their “knockout punch” as head coach Scott Forbes says, and that lack of mental mettle showed as the Heels dropped the series to the Hurricanes at home.
“That’s a real character-builder,” Miami head coach Gino DiMare said. “I challenged the team to see what they were made of. It’s tough to play an hour after that game the way it ended on the road. We knew it would take a total team effort, especially on the pitching side. I’m proud of our guys for the way that they fought and stuck together.”
“They outplayed us,” Miami head coach Gino DiMare said. “We didn’t walk a whole lot and we struck out a lot. They are tough at-bats. They are tough outs. They battle, foul pitches off and take you deep into counts. We have to play better on the road.”
"I won’t take anything away from our guys, they did one heck of a job," Miami head coach Gino DiMare said. "To sweep our rival, just a huge, huge weekend."
