Muncie man to stand trial for murder a second time
MUNCIE, Ind. A jury was being selected Monday in the Delaware Circuit Court 4 trial of a Muncie man charged with murder.
Brady Allen Turner, now 27, is accused of fatally stabbing Chris Eugene Burress Jr. during a confrontation on East 15th Street on Sept.17, 2018.
Turner stood trial on the murder charge in November 2019, but that Delaware Circuit Court 4 jury was unable to reach a verdict.
When he testified during the first trial, Turner maintained he believed his life was in danger when he stabbed the 27-year-old Burress, who he said had earlier threatened to kill him.
Yorktown man gets 68 years in Walmart slaying case
MUNCIE, Ind. A Yorktown man has been sentenced to 68 years in prison as a result of a fatal shooting.
A Delaware Circuit Court 1 jury last September found Justin Ryan Bennett, 32, guilty of murder in the February 2020 slaying of Chase Woolums, a 24-year-old Muncie man who was gunned down in the parking lot of the southside Walmart store.
Testimony during last year s trial indicated Bennett had earlier threatened to harm Woolums, who was dating his former girlfriend.
Authorities said Woolums at the time armed with a 20-inch metal bar was shot in the back with a .38-caliber handgun as he ran from Bennett s pickup truck, apparently after realizing the Yorktown man had a gun.
Muncie man formally charged with murder, obstruction in wife s death
Kenneth Wayne Herbert, 52, had been arrested March 4.
Court documents filed by Chief Deputy Prosecutor Zach Craig said Kimberley Herbert, 48, was pronounced dead soon after her husband took her to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital on June 20, 2016.
At the time she arrived at the hospital, the victim was described as unresponsive and in cardiac arrest.
An autopsy determined the Delaware County woman had died as a result of multiple traumatic blunt force injuries to her head, neck, torso and extremities.
She had also suffered a lacerated liver.
According to an affidavit, three witnesses interviewed in recent months by Delaware County sheriff s investigators reported Kimberley Herbert in the final hours of her life indicated she had been physically assaulted by her husband.
Muncie teen formally charged in triple homicide
MUNCIE, Ind. A Muncie teenager on Tuesday was formally charged in connection with the slayings of three Michigan men.
Chandler Willard Harris II, of the 100 block of South Dicks Street, was arrested last Thursday his 18th birthday in Anderson.
On Tuesday, he was charged in Delaware Circuit Court 3 with three counts of murder and single counts of conspiracy to commit robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and aiding, inducing or causing robbery resulting in serious bodily injury.
The bodies of three men from Detroit Adrian Demarlo George Jr., 30; Devonte Earl Hollis, 25, and Terence Thomas, 27 on Feb. 18 were found by Muncie police in an apartment in the Elgin Manor Apartments complex, 2533 N. Elgin St.
