Over the last 50 years, Yvonne Pinkerton played a large role in shaping the theater community in the Venice area, inspiring hundreds of Venice High School students with her love of drama while also sharing that passion through her decades-long association with Venice Theatre.
Everywhere she went, the woman known to many as Pinky tried to bring people together through love, spirituality and theater until her death on Christmas Day at 92 from complications of COVID-19, her youngest son, Scott, said on Tuesday.
Pinkerton moved to Venice with her four young children in 1969 after spending several years in Winter Park, where she taught drama and English. Early on, she got involved with Venice Theatre, frequently starring on stage and also working as a director, board member, board president (1973-76) and donor.
