Though local governments are closest to the people, city elections regularly attract far less turnout than national or state contests. Fifteen percent is high. A quirk could make this year different. Last year, with the COVID-19 pandemic making people wary of polling places, elections supervisors in Florida pushed mail-in ballots. Like many of her state counterparts, Wendy Link not only allowed Palm Beach County voters to request ballots for the 2020 election. She allowed them to request ballots through November 2022.

Yvette Drucker was appointed to fill out the remainder of his term. She s also officially running to keep Seat C. Drucker says she may be a fresh face on the council, jumping on in November, but not in the city of Boca. I ve been in the community a lot. I ve been serving in non-profit boards, in over 19 boards, giving back. Advocacy is a passion of mine, and community service. Drucker worked for 13 years in human resources management.

Boca Raton election: Six candidates battle for two council seats

BOCA RATON   Boca Raton voters will choose from among six candidates in two nonpartisan city council races March 9, and decide the fate of two charter amendments.   Council members are elected at large to three-year terms. They may serve no more than two consecutive terms. The salary is $28,000 annually, plus a $450 monthly car allowance. A look at the candidates and charter amendments: Boca Raton election: Seat C  Yvette Drucker: Drucker, 45, was appointed over 31 other applicants in October to fill the seat of Jeremy Rodgers, who is on military deployment and whose term expires March 31. She is married with two children and earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Florida International University.
