Contracts with National Defence, and for maintenance on emergency vehicles like ambulances and organ-transport vehicles, kept the garage bays open. As with many other dealerships, staff cooperated in reduced schedules and slotted in holidays to keep everybody working. Laberge is proud there has been no turnover in staff during this time. Changes required by law, from plexiglass, to distancing, to sanitizing, all happened immediately, and Laberge now says they’ve gone further. “We’re retrofitting with glass and steel. It looks more like a bank, with high-end fixtures that keep customers and staff safe.” Like all dealerships, they follow the Ministry of Health tasks on a daily basis for everyone who works at or visits the shop.
