Sea Commercial Port “Yuzhny” handled 18,8 million tonnes of cargo in 2020. This is the record result in the company history, which is 24% higher than the previous benchmark. Sea Commercial Port “Yuzhny” is the largest public stevedoring company in terms of cargo turnover.
The cargo nomenclature includes ore, pig iron, coal, grain and grain products, equipment. The volume of export ore increased by 4,8 million tonnes (+53% compared to 2019) to 13,7 million tonnes. The growth of export cargo is 47% compared to last year.
The stevedoring company welcomed 6 vessels with components for wind turbines: columns, gondolas, hubs, drives and blades. For the first time, Sea Commercial Port “Yuzhny” handled large-sized elements for wind power plants – blades. Before unloading this equipment, the roads were expanded, storage areas were prepared, and a technology for handling oversized cargo was developed.
