Court allows Hadi Awang’s bid to squash suit over seditious remark (Updated) 07 May 2021 / 15:14 H. Bernama
KUALA LUMPUR: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (pix) today has succeeded in his bid to strike out an originating summons filed against him by two Sabahans over an alleged seditious remark against Christians which was published in Harakah newspaper five years ago.
High Court Judge Datuk Akhtar Tahir in his decision, allowed the application by Abdul Hadi to quash the suit filed by Maklin Masiau and Lawrence Jomiji Kinsil @ Maximilhian as the first and second plaintiffs, saying that the suit has no locus standi, frivolous and an abuse of court process.

LETTER | Don’t be condescending towards young lawyers

LETTER | I have followed with rapt attention the mobilisation of the Young Lawyers’ Movement (YLM) in their quest towards attaining minimum wage for pupils in law firms. Their struggle has now grown to protecting young people against general labour abuses they are facing, particularly with the newly-minted MCO 2.0.
I read their statement with rapt attention, as they pointed out such abuses as unilateral salary cuts and forced resignations in certain law firms being faced by young lawyers. The YLM correctly points out that associates and pupils pledged allegiance, fidelity and service to the firms they served hoping to build a long and successful career ahead of them. Abandoning them in their time of need during a global pandemic should not be done.
