The Libyan Kinetic Military Action Supported al Qaeda All Along

On February 23, 2011 Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi appeared on State TV calling on his supporters to “cleanse Libya house by house.” Gaddafi also made an open appeal for imperialist support, claiming that Libya’s second-largest city,
Benghazi, was falling into the grip of
Islamic fundamentalists and it
“will give Al Qaeda a base.” Gaddafi gave us fair warning.
European powers, concerned about their oil interests, took his 70-minute rant seriously though nothing over the previous two decades indicated that he would follow through on his threat. Britain and France began bombing.
