Two sisters, members of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations in the Yukon, created a pocket-size dictionary of Southern Tutchone words to help preserve the Indigenous language.
Tredger has worked supporting young children and their families as a speech-language pathologist.
She is currently the executive director at Teegatha’Oh Zheh, supporting Yukon residents with developmental disabilities.
Incumbent and former party leader Liz Hanson is not seeking re-election.
“In my work, I’ve talked to families who have a lot to worry about,” Tredger said Thursday.
“They need the support of a speech therapist, but before they need that, they need a place live.
“Everyone deserves an affordable, stable place to call home,” she added.
“I know (NDP Leader) Kate White is going to work to deliver that for people – that’s why I’m excited to join her.”
