One Dead in Hawthorne Shooting

The shooting occurred about 10:45 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of El Segundo and Crenshaw boulevards, said Hawthorne police Lt. C. Port. The victim was taken by paramedics to Harbor UCLA Medical Center and pronounced dead, Port said. An investigation was underway with the help of sheriff s homicide detectives, he said. But all the songs he considers old all started somewhere and so did Garth. Brooks grew up placing faith and family above all else, values that kept him humble as he skyrocketed to stardom. “I go home and mom tells me what all the local radio stations are doing and what everything’s going on and dad pulls me aside and makes sure that I know, I know I’m not in the real world, you know, that I ain’t working for a living,” Brooks said.

Included in the department’s reports Dec. 6-12 were these incidents: Dec. 6 - Attempted vehicle theft with a gun implied to the owner during a robbery on the 5300 block of West 16th Street. - Vehicle theft on the 1500 block of Park Place Boulevard. - Vehicle theft on the 5300 block of West 16th Street. - Storage unit burglary on the 3900 block of Meadowbrook Road. - House fire on the 2900 block of Hillsboro Avenue South. - Threats and theft from a store on the 8900 block of Highway 7. A criminal complaint has been issued. Dec. 7 - Weapon violation on the 3000 block of Lynn Avenue South.
