Taipei, Jan. 2 (CNA) Taiwanese government officials on Saturday vowed to deal firmly with anyone caught artificially inflating the price of pork, following reports that vendors were raising prices amid concerns about a new policy allowing imports of the meat containing traces of the livestock drug ractopamine.

Taipei, Dec. 28 (CNA) The government will implement a series of new regulations Jan. 1, some of which will apply specifically to foreign nationals in Taiwan. The following are some of the major changes:
▋The Ministry of the Interior will change the numbering format of Alien Resident Certificates (ARC) and Alien Permanent Resident Certificates (APRC) to bring them in line with the Taiwan national identification card so that they could be more widely used.
▋The Ministry of Finance will increase the basic allowance per person that taxpayers can deduct from their income when filing income taxes, from NT$175,000 to NT$182,000.

Taipei, Dec. 24 (CNA) Data on the volume of domestic and imported pork on the Taiwan market will be posted daily on two government websites, starting next year, when the importation of American pork containing ractopamine is scheduled to begin, a government spokesman said Thursday.
The information will be published on regular workdays on the websites of the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Council of Agriculture, providing data on the supply of pork on the domestic market, as well as the volume of imported pork and the country of origin, Cabinet Secretary-General and spokesman Li Meng-yen (李孟諺) said.
