LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is confident he can lead the nation’s most prolific offense into the post-Jayden Daniels era. The patient third-year sophomore will make his first college start, stepping in for the Heisman Trophy winner when the 13th-ranked Tigers (9-3) face Wisconsin (8-5) in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Monday. Daniels, who threw for 3,812 yards and ran for 1,134 while also accounting for 50 touchdowns, opted out of the SEC-Big Ten matchup at Raymond James Stadium to prepare for the upcoming NFL draft.
Luckily for Angel Reese, her hometown can easily be substituted into her alliterative nickname. “I'm the Baltimore Barbie before I'm the Bayou Barbie,” the LSU star said. Reese is a fan favorite in both areas, and she showed why Wednesday, bringing her seventh-ranked LSU team to Baltimore to face Coppin State in a rare marquee home game for the MEAC school.
Max Abmas had 20 points and seven assists, Tyrese Hunter added a season-high 19 points and No. 19 Texas defeated LSU 96-85 Saturday. Dylan Disu scored 17 points and Dillon Mitchell had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Texas (8-2). “I thought we played really well in the first half, and for us, I thought we had pretty good carryover in terms of trying to finish the game out for 40 minutes,” Texas coach Rodney Terry said.
