Yreka City Council: Body Art events are a go in split decision [Siskiyou Daily News, Yreka, Calif.]
Jan. 26 After tabling in November a resolution to approve street closures and other requests for Yreka’s 2021 Art Hops events, the council gave the go-ahead for the events to happen at its meeting Tuesday by a 3-2 vote.
The sticking point has been in regards to two body painting events, dubbed “My Body Your Canvas.”
Art Hops events are scheduled to happen six times this year on the fourth Friday of each month, from May through October, depending on the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Siskiyou Daily News
If you noticed people walking or running around the community last week wearing colorful ugly sweaters or other holiday attire, you may have seen folks taking part in the annual Siskiyou Family YMCA Ugly Sweater Run.
Due to COVID-19, the race was held virtually this year, with participants having three days to complete the 2-mile run/walk or 5-mile run.
Noelle Collier, Health and Fitness Director for the YMCA, helped organize the event. She said 106 people signed up, which exceeded their expectations. Normally, around 120 or so people take part in the run, which is in its ninth year.
