COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 3 Arkansas produced five qualifiers to the NCAA Championship meet from three events contested at the NCAA West Preliminary round on Thursday. In addition, the Razorbacks advanced 14 entries among six events that have quarterfinal races on Saturday.
Three Razorbacks – Lauren Martinez, Mackenzie Hayward and Bailee McCorkle – advanced to Eugene in the pole vault, but current collegiate leader Nastassja Campbell was not among that trio.

In the final race of the evening, Katie Izzo finished third in the 10,000m, which included a field of 48, with a time of 33:38.64. Just missing qualifying for the 12-person NCAA final was Devin Clark, who placed 13
The Razorbacks make a return trip to E.B. Cushing Stadium where they recently claimed the SEC Championship to complete a conference triple crown for the 2020-21 season.
Arkansas was the lone Division I school to complete a men’s and women’s conference triple crown this season. Only two other schools achieved the feat this past year in Division I, the Charlotte men in Conference USA as well as the Arkansas State women in the Sun Belt.
This marked the third time the Razorbacks men and women accomplished a conference triple crown in the same season. The first occurred in 1999-2000 and then again in 2015-16.
No. 2 Arkansas completed its seventh SEC triple crown by claiming a ninth SEC Outdoor Championship on Saturday by six and half points over No. 1 LSU at E.B. Cushing Stadium with Alabama 11 points behind in third place.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorbacks produced solid marks during the Arkansas Twilight despite inclement weather which included hail and a lightning delay amid rain showers during Friday’s action at John McDonnell Field.
“I thought our headliners was shared between Daszay Freeman in the hurdles, with both races in difficult conditions, but she ended up setting the meet record, and G’Auna Ewards, who had a solid long jump and then ran two good hurdle races as well,” said Arkansas women’s head coach Lance Harter. “I think that was a good prep for next week’s multi in the conference meet.”

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Friday’s Arkansas Twilight held at John McDonnell Field provides a final tune-up for the Razorbacks prior to next week’s conference meet as well as an opportunity for professional athletes, such as Sandi Morris, to continue preparations for the Olympic Trials that are just over a month away.
“This is a last opportunity for us to tune-up and get some updated seeding marks for the SEC Championships next week,” noted Arkansas women’s head coach Lance Harter. “Some may run an event lower than normal in their schedule. Our sprint crew is running relatively true to form, and there are some very good professional athletes with great credentials coming in.”
