While this is a recent official designation, the residents of Coralville, North Liberty, and Iowa City have long recognized this is a unique part of the state, where the fine arts thrive and are appreciated. Formed in 1916, the Music Study Club’s focus has always been on programs featuring musical presentations, including verbal historical perspectives by the performers. Currently, the programs feature a combination of UI School of Music faculty and community members. The club has long recognized the importance of providing financial support to young musicians and began a scholarship program in 1937.
