Ren Seafoods paid $4.17 million for the former Smith’s Bakery building and property at 1201 West I-65 Service Road N. in Mobile, according to Marietta Urquhart and Jamie Ison of White-Spunner Realty, who represented the buyer. David Dexter of CRE Mobile worked for the sellers. Ren Seafoods plans to invest $12.4 million to develop a processing facility and distribution hub. The property includes 15.64 acres with a 70,130-square-foot production area; a cross dock of 35,685 square feet; and a 4,826-square-foot truck service facility. Frios Gourmet Pops leases about 30,000 square feet of the building that was used by the bakery for storage and distribution.
