De traffic speeds are at or above posted currentlydrive safely city leaders in milwaukee say its more than just another mode of transportation. It looks like the streetcar project is taking another step forward this morning. A contractor is now being selected to lead the first phase of the project. Ann sterling is live with more. In just a few hours members of the Common Council wil meet to talk about the next phase of the streetcar leaders are counting on the project to Bring New Energy and growth to downtown. But it hasnt always been a smooth ride. The streetcar has had to avoid a lot of obstacles and opposition along the way, especially when it comes to the cost. Right now the price tag is at least 128 million dollars. More than half of the money is expected to come from the federal government. But a few months approved more local tax dollars to expand the project the streetcar is expected to begin serving the third ward and downtown in 2018. That phase one route, along with an exte
