Hampton has identified five areas in the city with disproportionately higher levels of gun violence. The city will use $4.6 million in federal funding to go into these communities and provide services that will help reduce gun violence.
Many of those who will be eligible for the services have already experienced violence in the community either as a witness or as someone who has lost a loved one.
