Brittany Smith's headaches took on a different force just shy of her 14th birthday. The first episode started with her face feeling a bit tight in the morning and by the time she got home from school her right eye was swollen and drooping. “We thought maybe it was something with her eye, so we went to the eye doctor. They were unsure what was going on, so we went to our local emergency department,” said her mother Tami. Doctors there thought Brittany was potentially experiencing Bell’s Palsy but suggested she go to the emergency department at the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital.
