brad speaks from sort of like, the energy was exciting, karine, unless you were already an elected official then you felt as if you move the wrong way, you could get primaried or, you kn, this is a reshaping, maybe a resorting of the move. right. here s the thing, chuck. democrats need to not be the minority party. they really do need to be the opposition party. majority of americans do not agree with the policies that donald trump is putting forth. and the people really people out there really want their voice to be heard. so i think that s an important note what s the it was interesting you say there s a distinction between being the minority and opposition party. there is. you think a minority party has to not at all. if anything, democrats have been, i believe, very successful this week, right, because we knew they would nef have the votes, right, to stop anybody. what they were able to do was expose some of these very troubling cabinet picks and i think that wa
watching his dad s presidency, was deeply affected the moment that he received his briefing on his most terrifying and awesome responsibility, and that is the authority to order a nuclear strike. that usually happens the morning of the inauguration where the president-elect learns the nuts and bolts of what to do, how to do it, if and when he s called on to make that terrible decision. it has to affect everybody. but, you kn, our history of presidents is, everybody steps into office and they have to grow as a human being and as a leader. again, i think we need to give donald trump the chance to be that leader. we should remind our audience that donald trump is spending the day here in the area surrounding the nation s capital as well. he s going to be visiting or is visiting arlington national ceremony. can you see the ceremony that is about to take place there. donald trump should be there at any moment if he s not there
already. josh, tell me, there s a lot of pump and circumstance surrounding this day in washington. certainly a lot of pomp and circumstance tomorrow. donald trump is 70 years old. he didn t have any civil service experience, he doesn t have any military experience. do you think he understands the enormity of what this office means and the history of this office, the tradition of it? you know, i sure hope so. it s an extraordinary position he s about to enter into. isn t it unusual that we even have to ask that question before an inauguration? you should ask that question about every incoming president because nobody is fully prepared to be president when they step into office. and i think when president-elect trump comes to washington, he s here now, when he sees some of the grand traditions that have marked our democracy for years,
anistential crisis, you do our job. the more you sit here and make it about ourselves as journalists, it starts to sort of play into what people alre y already, you know, don t like about the press. can t be too much self-regard and all. i know. they re all ivy leaguers, they look down on us. a lot of reporting, i used to ride around the bus with you guys and i d have an opinion column i could write and i d be watching people do long front-page stories that go into a big jump, incredibly reported. i d say, how did you do that? i was watching your hands. how did you do that? you got to get what he said, got to get it accurately, get it recorded generally. yet if trump says it doesn t matter, you re not supposed to quote me, i mean, a lot of the trump people say you re being unfair if you simply quote trump saying what he said. how do you deal with that? you kn re not going to make everyone happy. every story i write, there are liberals who feel like i normalized trump. there are tru
