off the chain migration that would allow a family to be in the united states. that is a complicated issue. it has been part of our country s fabric for a long time. and there are some who have done so illegally with that intention. not just from mexico or central america. marco rubio today saying there are people from china who are doing it. it is part of a broader conversation but this is one of the issues that comes out of the donald trump plan. and we re asking various candidates what their views are. and some of those who are in office now and running for office saying is there a way to have some kind of limitation as people who could be identified with doing wit that intent. that is thorny and no one has said how that would look. marco rubio you heard would be open to those changes but not sure how. carly fiorina says no, this is the constitution. no change is needed. scott walker, too was saying maybe prospectively there would be some change.
confirmed there were officers shot. did you ultimately get out of your car? i ask only because aisle curious to hear how these other demonstrators responded to the pop, pop, pop you heard? reporter: well i sat in my car for awhile because you saw a lot of cops who, you know were crouching down behind you know cars behind retaining walls, behind gates and had their weapons drawn and i don t want to pop out of a car and make sudden moves and saw some demonstrators were crawling on the ground and others walking by with their hands up so there was a lot of you know a lot of tension. it was a very tense atmosphere with the cops looking around and eventually the cops tactically up the hill across the police department from where they shots came from and hidden behind a shield and had their weapons drawn. one flashed his lights over my car and turned on my inside dome light on and saw my hands up and later as i saw it i eventually got out of the car and started
making a big splash across washington and other places. well, the administration makes the point that nobody has been victimized yet, that they there haven t been any cyber attacks that they know of. lamar smith you heard, well, they don t have any way of knowing and based on what that expert told them. but if that were the standard, you would think it might have quieted things down in a similar controversy, bret, revolving around the national security agency, the nsa, and this massive amount of data that it gathers basically on phone calls, who they went to, what the numbers were and so on which has created a tremendous firestorm, and yet not a single victim has been identified in that case, so what we have is a case of two similar stories really in a sense with very different coverage. reuters, the news wire, the news agency, actually subjected this expert witnesses checks, the work he had done to independent verification by other cyber experts and apparently he passed
because they were there. they re expected to tell congress that the obama administration put out a false story about the events of the consulate. one of the whistle-blowers as you heard was gregory hicks. he was the deputy chief of mission at the benghazi consulate who told house staff in advance of his testimony, quote, i think everybody in the mission thought it was a terrorist attack from the beginning. i never reported a demonstration. i reported an attack on the consulate. of course despite this, you know u.n. ambassador susan rice went on all the sunday talk shows saying it was a demonstration that got out of hand. hicks says he wishes he would have gotten a head s up. even on sunday morning i could have been called. the phone call, could have been hey, greg, ambassador rice would say blah, blah and i could have said, no, that is not the right thing. that phone call was never made. the house oversight and government reform committee will hear the testimony. back to you, heather.
