Snowmelt pouring out of the high country of Yosemite National Park has led to a flood warning for the Yosemite Valley as the Merced River is expected to reach flood stage. As a result, the Lower, North Pines, and Housekeeping Camp campgrounds are closed.
Warm weather melting the High Sierra snowpack is expected to lead to flooding of the Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park later this week, prompting park officials to close much of the valley beginning Friday night and lasting until May 3, at least.
