Prosecutor: Firefighters discovered burned human remains at brush fire

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the discovery of burned human remains discovered after firefighters extinguished a brush fire.
Authorities say that firefighters responded to a brush fire behind the West New York Swim Club in West New York just before 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Firefighters found the body after the fire was put out.
The person has not yet been identified. The prosecutor says that the cause and manner of the person’s death are pending the results of an autopsy.

A burned body was discovered at the site of a reported brush fire in West New York early Wednesday morning, officials said.
West New York police officers reported a brush fire after 1 a.m. behind the West New York Swim Club, in the area of 60th Street, JFK Boulevard East and Anthony M Defino Way, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
After members of the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Department extinguished the fire, the burned remains of a person were discovered, who was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.
